RQ-008 — DeFarm Identifier (DFID)
Specifies a canonical identifier namespace that bridges local farm IDs, global GS1/EPCIS standards, and regulatory demands.
English Gabriel Rondon
Abstract
DFID introduces a top-level namespace issued when an agricultural item becomes canonical inside DeFarm Engines. The working paper documents the identifier format, governance needs, mapping to local identifiers, and interoperability with GS1, EPCIS, ISO 22005, SISBOV, and EU Digital Product Passport requirements. It frames DFID as the glue between fragmented registries so provenance, sustainability, and compliance evidence can travel across borders.
Research Notes
- Captures current DFID issuance logic (
DFID-{timestamp}-{sequence}-{checksum}) and the gaps around merge/split, revocation, and governance. - Benchmarks external standards plus DID/VC ecosystems to recommend resolver APIs, checksum rules, and privacy-preserving metadata exposure.
- Lays out active workstreams: drafting specification v0.1, building mapping matrices, prototyping resolver services, and designing governance plus adoption playbooks.
- Highlights stakeholder coordination requirements—engineering, compliance, pilot partners—and references supporting materials (
references.md, stakeholder plan).
